Water Baptism

Fellowship of Hope Church is very proud of the young school students in our communities around the Phnom Penh and Happy Village areas who have heard the Gospel for so long and many times from the servants of God, and lately they have decided to follow Jesus. On February 09, 2019, at Mlup Mean Water Park, there were 43 children who received water baptism.

Our members of Fellowship of Hope Church organized the program.  We sang praise and preached short message about the meaning of water baptism, after that we make two roles for baptize in a large swimming pool. There were two pastors minister as baptizer for our students.

After the program finish, all students have chance to swim in the pool and some students are also learning to swim until noon, and we have lunch together.

On Sunday service, we find that six of the students came to join the church service to hear the Word of God, and join the church activities and fellowship with brothers and sisters in Christ.

We believe that this event is a fruit of hard work of the people in our church congregations (including some of them who work or volunteer in the Serve Cambodia education centres and other local community development projects) who never neglect in demonstrating God’s love to the local children, preaching the gospel and to God be glorify!!!

The Fellowship Of Hope Church has collaborated with the Perth Bible College  in Australia to create the annual Pastors Conference to help the church leaders, youth and many other people for our many different member church congregations across Cambodia. Every year we have a total of about 120 leaders joined in the conference.

In this the 9th year of the Fellowship Of Hope Church Pastors Conference, Perth Bible College has organized this program again with the helping and supporting of our local churches – a partnership that continues such very helpful training once again. The theme this year was, “Born again to a Living Hope.”

Our purpose is to help the leaders, pastors, youth in all the churches to understand more about how to teach God’s word, evangelism, caring and encourage the church member to keep their faith and their believe. And more is to share experiences or testimonies with each other and build up the relationships of support with each other through a training course. Especially the pastors from rural areas often comment that they no longer feel alone but feel part of a larger family of support and care.

All participants are happy to have gained knowledge, experience, communication, and good lessons, which are useful for them to train others in their local area. We strongly hope that this will be continued in the future. Thank you very much for Perth Bible College, which has makes this program possible every year and supports the local leadership of our church network.

Pastoral Training with Mission Direct

As for several years, Mission Direct has been sending short-term mission teams to Cambodia from the UK. Whether through teachers training or pastoral training, they have been a blessing to many lives in Cambodia both directly and indirectly for the glory of God along side Fellowship of Hope Church. This is in addition to the amazing work they do every year in supporting Serve Cambodia’s community development projects, through fundraising for and helping to build new facilities, homes and classrooms.

Last year, a couple of pastors whose names are Bob and Mike (who were part of the Mission Direct team) conducted pastors’ training for a few days on the Book of Nehemiah. They returned again this year with two other pastors Clive and Dave and taught on the book of Acts. They covered topics such as Pastoral care, sin, the cross, baptism, and worship while teaching from the book of Acts.

The training started on the 13th and finished on the 15th of February. Some of the pastors that were present were from the provinces and they brought some of their elders with them as well. Now they in turn are able to teach other pastors and elders across the rural areas of Cambodia with what they themselves have learned.

The training was mutually beneficial as the local leaders learned from the team and the team learned how churches work in Cambodia, the victories and the challenges faced by local leaders, and the sacrifices made by people from poor communities who dedicate their lives to serve Christ. They will be discussing about further training for the future, but for this year the local Cambodian leaders have received much and will in turn teach others what they have learned.

We will build our church with $10!

The mother church of Fellowship of Hope is based in Phnom Penh, which is the capital city of Cambodia. Today, it has grown remarkably across the country in its 10 years of existence. Through the leadership of the mother church in Phnom Penh, it has planted 66 churches and touched the lives of about 3,000 people.

Because of its growth, the leaders of Fellowship of Hope Church have decided to build a building by faith that will be the permanent base of their work in Cambodia. This project will be called “Build a church with $10.” According to the growing number of the Fellowship, our church leaders have decided to put a building by faith. We continue to be faithful to the vision that God has place in our lives as leaders as we strive to fulfill His plans for us. The Fellowship of Hope Church purchased a land in the Phnom Penh city (17.5m x 22m) three years ago. Our young engineers (who we have supported in their university studies) have design the building plan for the building of the church. The church’s building plan has two floors plus the roof level in the normal Cambodian style: the first floor will be comprise of a kitchen, a room for Sunday School, an office and the restrooms as well. The second floor will be the accommodation room for pastors and leaders, guests and students from the provinces to stay during the training run by the Fellowship of Hope church. The roof level / third floor will be the church hall, and we can also use this opening area for training, wedding, funeral, and any celebrations else.

Our desire in believing God for this building is that we can have a base that is modern, that fits the needs of the church family in Phnom Penh. That can provides comfortable accommodations to our pastors from the provinces when they arrive in Phnom Penh and the same goes for their children that come to Phnom Penh to study. Right now we rent a building, but we are believing for a building that can be a home for our church community. The new building will be able to serve the church and the communities in a more efficient manner because of the rooms that will be built, and the ongoing running costs will be much cheaper than renting. We as the church member will give US$10 each to this project, starting with the mother church in Phnom Penh, then in our network and sister churches across the country and we strongly believed that our God will provide to make it enough.
