T-Shirt Screen Printing

Recently we have had the opportunity to send 3 people from the sewing project to join the T-Shirt screen printing course for 2 weeks. Now those 3 people have been teaching the rest of the sewing team how to do it. It is so good to give skills to people in the community and will  also help to improve the sewing project as well, so it can make more income for the women this year.

After the training their first job is to work on the Serve Cambodia students uniform and staff uniform - a big job for so many shirts but they are almost finished now. And in the future we also hope to get more orders from the visiting teams and churches as well, to make their team uniforms. As you can see they are doing some beautiful work and looking like they are having a lot of fun.

Please let us know if you are interested to arrange your team or church shirts from Happy Village Products, and it would be a blessing for the sewing project to be able to make and print these for you. This is one of the best ways that you can support the sewing project and the ladies who work in the sewing room.

Every year we can clearly see that God is providing and caring for us. He has always been faithful to his church, growing Fellowship of Hope’s congregations at a fast pace, sharing the love of Christ all around Cambodia. And also in the growth and development of Serve Cambodia as a young organisation building a brighter future for the poor of this country.

In 2012 we were so encouraged by everyone’s support of our fundraising goals. All of Serve Cambodia’s budget needs were met, and both TLC and HOH education centres were brought near to full sponsorship despite an increase in students from the Kian Klieng housing relocations. Many people around the country were also blessed through the ministry of Fellowship of Hope.

Here is an update on the 2013 Serve Cambodia fundraising goals, and we would appreciate your prayer and continued support in these areas:

* Of the most pressing need is the AUD$26,000 still needed before the end of this year to provide the ‘support services’ through Serve Cambodia that keep all of the projects like TLC, HOH, LOH and the community development projects running. These costs include staff wages and health insurance, development of the Light of Hope education centre, transportation costs, internet connections to enable us to communicate with everyone, public liability and building insurance, uniforms, community work in Happy Village and Prey Sor, family seminars, etc.

* Staff sponsorships for two project workers, two teachers, two cooks and two cleaners, which each cost AUD$150 per month.

* At Harvest of Hope the number of kids that still need sponsors is in single figures, and now we have begun to extend the sponsorship program to the Light of Hope centre, which will bring amazing blessing and opportunity to the nearly 100 students there.  These sponsorships cost AUD$40 per month. As happened with HOH last year, in 2013 we pray that LOH will reach a sustainable level of sponsorship by Christmas time. This will mean that the full educational, health and nutritional program can be up and running at LOH in the same way as the other 2 centres.

*AUD$2,400 for a staff training retreat that we hope to run this year. The aim of this is to not only improve our staff’s skills and teamwork, but to thank them for the incredible job they’ve done in the past year.

We give thanks to our God for his faithfulness in the past, and trust that he will do so again in the remainder of 2013. And we also want to thank you, for all of your love and support. Whether you have been praying, fundraising, raising awareness of our work or assisting financially, all of your love and care for the people of Cambodia is such a blessing. We really appreciate the part you have played so far, and ask that you please continue to support us this year in maintaining the work that has been started.

Looking back over the years, we can clearly see God’s hand providing and caring for us.

For 2013 Serve Cambodia has some specific fundraising goals to share with you, and we would appreciate your prayer and continued support in these areas:

* Staff sponsorships for two project workers, two teachers, two cooks and two cleaners, which each cost AUD$150 per month.

* At Harvest of Hope the number of kids that still need sponsors has now reached single figures!  These sponsorships cost AUD$40 per month, and now we have begun to extend the program to the Light of Hope centre, which will bring amazing blessing and opportunity to the nearly 100 students there. As happened with HOH last year, in 2013 we pray that LOH will reach a sustainable level of sponsorship by Christmas time. This will mean that the full educational, health and nutritional program can be up and running at LOH in the same way as the other 2 centres.

* Approximately AUD$32,000 is needed to help cover Serve Cambodia’s unfunded operational expenses for 2013, without which the educational and community development projects simply can’t run. These costs include development of the Light of Hope education centre, transportation costs, staff health insurance, internet connections, public liability and building insurance, uniforms, community work in Happy Village and Prey Sor, family seminars, etc.

*AUD$2,400 for a staff training retreat that we hope to run this year. The aim of this is to not only improve our staff’s skills and teamwork, but to thank them for the incredible job they’ve done in the past year.

*AUD$1,200 for a projector/screen to help with training and education.

We give thanks to our God for his faithfulness in 2012, and trust that he will do so again in 2013. And we also want to thank you – our supporters - for all of your hard work and generosity. Whether you have been praying, fundraising, raising awareness of our work or assisting financially, all of your love and care for the people of Cambodia is such a blessing. We really appreciate the part you have played!

Check out how smart the students and staff look in their new uniforms! Recently all of the Serve Cambodia staff were provided with new uniforms, including the managers, teachers, cooks, cleaners and the ladies who work on the sewing project. This gives a feel of unity for the staff and looks great, as you can see!

The children at TLC and HOH were also excited to get their new shirts – but most excited of all were the students at Light of Hope education centre because this is the first time they have had uniforms! This shows them very visibly that they are included as part of the Serve Cambodia family. It is also an encouraging sign of things to come for Light of Hope, as this education will be developed and supported further in the future, once all of the HOH children have sponsors. As you can see, the education centre is already bringing a lot of hope and joy to these children.

Another encouraging thing about these new uniforms is that the ladies in the Happy Village sewing project were able to use their new t-shirt making skills and upgraded sewing machines to sew the HOH shirts. They also sewed the elegant blue shirts now worn by Serve Cambodia’s female staff. They will continue to receive more training, and in future the plan is for them to sew and screen print all of the Serve Cambodia uniforms for the staff and the three education centres. This is great for their skill development, and also great for the sustainability of Serve Cambodia’s projects.

Thankyou, as always, for your continued support which helps to make all of Serve Cambodia’s work possible. Praise God that the education centres continue to grow and develop every day, and that the sewing project is moving from strength to strength!
